Download a public Story in 3 steps
- Open the Instagram Story downloader. Enter a username, @handle or public profile URL, such as instagram.com/username. Story links and private profiles are not supported inputs.
- Select View stories. Open an available photo or play a video to check the item you want.
- Select Download photo or Download video for that item. Repeat for another Story; this version does not offer a ZIP or bulk download.
Where is the file on iPhone or Android?
Check your browser’s downloads list first. On iPhone, open Files and look for Downloads; the location depends on your browser settings. On Android, check Downloads in your file manager. A browser download may need a separate save or import action before it appears in your Photos or Gallery app.
What quality is saved?
The service streams the media bytes returned by the source. It does not add watermarks or recompress the file. The upstream copy may already be compressed, so a download is not a promise of the creator’s original camera resolution.
Why might saving fail?
Stories normally expire after 24 hours, and their media links can stop working earlier. Search the profile again while the Story is available. Source outages, rate limits and the service’s finite free retrieval allowance can also prevent a download. See what each unavailable result means.
Before you reuse a download
Saving a file does not grant rights to republish it. Ask the creator for permission before reposting. Private, deleted and expired Stories cannot be recovered by this tool.
Frequently asked questions
Can I save a Story without installing an app?
Yes. Use the website in your browser; no Instagram login or separate app is required. JavaScript is needed for searches and downloads.
Can I download a Story directly from its Story link?
No. This version accepts a username, @handle or public profile URL. Search the profile and select an available current Story.
Does Download save straight to my camera roll?
Not necessarily. The browser saves a file, usually to Downloads. Use your device’s save or import action if you want it in Photos or Gallery.
